"The following list of names is based on the "Death Books" of the concentration camp Auschwitz, which are now in the archive of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. It includes total 68,864 entries. The spelling of names is according to the original registration. Missing parts of the date were marked as -..."

According to documents and information known today total 1,500,000-1,300,000 persons were sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau, about 85% of them were Jews.

400,355 persons entered the camp

356,223 of them Jews

11,186 gentiles, mainly Poles

11,964 Russian prisoners of war

20,982 gypsies

 

According to estimations at the end of the war about

 

225,000 (of the 400,355) persons survived.

215,000 were sent to other concentration camps

or have been released from Auschwitz at the end of the war

9,500 gentiles were released during the years

500 escaped.

Records have been found only regarding 68,864 persons of the 180,000 who entered the camp and got numbers, died, were murdered or have been sent to the gas chambers from the sickrooms or selections.
